The project charter is the document that formally authorizes the existence of the project.

  • Gives the project manager authority to apply organizational resources to project activities.
  • Information contained in the project charter contributes to defining the project scope.

The basic format of a project charter includes the information below;

  • Followed by signatures of;
    • The Sponsor.
    • Key Stakeholders.
